Cat Grooming - What Other People Are Not Telling You About Ear Maintain Your Cats

Good ear care is vital to your cat's health, especially as she ages. Check her ears at least once per week, and clean them if required to prevent ear mites, allergies, and bacterial, fungal and candidiasis from establishing itself.

To determine the inner section of your cat's ear, support the tip involving the thumb and forefinger and roll it gently toward the rear of her head. Skin should be pink or flesh colored and should look healthy and clean, without red or sore looking patches.

Some light brown wax is common, however a heavy discharge (especially black, red, or green yellow) indicates an issue. If the ears look healthy plus your cat shows no indications of discomfort round her ears or head, gently wipe away any excess wax which has a pad soaked in ear cleanser.

Ear issues are challenging to diagnose, and treating for that wrong sort of infection is not going to help and might worsen, so if your cat's ears look red, sore, or dirty, or if she scratches her ears or shakes her head a great deal, visit your vet.

This is not commonly a problem to get a house cat, but minus the ability to hear, jane is at risk of serious injury outdoors. Indoor cat lead longer, healthier lives and keeping senior cat indoors may extend her life by a lot of years.
